ANOINTING FOR PROMOTION
Psalms 75:6 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.
Promotion comes from no one else but from God. God singles a man out from the crowd or from the multitude and promote him. And when God promotes a man he equips him with all he needs, the power, the resources and wisdom, to carry out his new assignment. If God does not promote, you are not promoted. If you are looking on anyone else for promotion you may be looking at the wrong place.
Promotion is advancement in position: advancement to a more senior job or a higher rank, grade, or position. Promotion attracts more responsibilities and more rewards. It is always the desire of anyone who is involved in any gainful responsibility to be promoted. When you are promoted the work and the gains become even higher. If you are not promoted, you are stagnant or you are demoted. To avoid stagnation and demotion one must always thrive for promotion. Promotion is an act of lifting up.
You must be ready for promotion. And being ready for promotion comes with you working hard and giving it all in the position you have found your self presently. According to Pat Riley “Being ready isn’t enough; you have to be prepared for a promotion or any other significant change.” You must be prepared spiritually and physically. One of the reasons why God called us to fast and to pray this season is to prepare us and get us ready for promotion. If you are not ready and prepared for the promotion you may not be able to handle the vast and huge responsibility that comes with it. Promotion can be spiritual or physical.
Spiritual promotion is about your advancement in the LORD our God. It is about being lifted in the realm of the spirit. it involves development and advancement in spiritual exercises with the aim of knowing God more intimately.
Physical promotion is about physical advancement and development in terms of ministry, career, education and total wellbeing.
God does not like stagnation. God wants to see you advance in your endeavours. God wants to hand over a lot of responsibilities to you. No one will ever want to give birth to a child with growth difficulties. The desire of every parent is to see to the growth advancement and development of their children. Luke 2:40 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him. God wants to see that you develop to maturity and advance in life.
We can observe from the scripture that whenever God anoints someone he anoints for promotion. God may anoint you for promotion and greatness but it is left for you to keep the anointing intact and never break the anointing of God in your life. Saul was anointed of God, in fact God singled him out and anointed him to be the king and the judge of his people Israel, that is double promotion. But unfortunately Saul broke the anointing of God upon his live by simple act of disobedience and God rejected him. The bible recorded that the Spirit of God left him and an evil spirit entered him. The kingdom was taking away from him and instead of promotion he suffered demotion.
It is not enough for you to be anointed for promotion, you must know the importance of the anointing you are carrying and be ready to guide against any act of disobedience that may break the anointing and steal your promotion. Be warned the devil will always come to check you out. Remember John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. Just as God wants you to be promoted, the devil wants you to be demoted. His ploy is to steal and destroy your anointing and steal your promotion. When he comes enticing you with the lust of the eyes and the lust of the flesh know that his motive is never for your favour but for your destruction.
The best way to guide against any threat against the anointing of God upon you is to stay away from sin and every act of disobedience.
James 4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. The foundation of your promotion is humility. Promotion basically is related to your humility. 1 Peter 5:5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
When you go through the scriptures you will find instances where God anointed men for promotion and each case we see and find higher responsibilities and positions given.
For instance Aaron was anointed for promotion. In Exodus 28:41, it is written, “And thou shalt put them upon Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him; and shalt anoint them, and consecrate them, and sanctify them, that they may minister unto me in the priest’s office.”
Gideon was anointed by the spirit for promotion to judge Israel when he least expected it. When he considered himself the least among the least, yet among the least God promoted him to be the Judge of Israel. But the Spirit of the LORD came upon Gideon, and he blew a trumpet; and Abiezer was gathered after him.Judges 6:34
Saul was anointed for promotion1 Samuel 15:1 Samuel also said unto Saul, The LORD sent me to anoint thee to be king over his people, over Israel: now therefore hearken thou unto the voice of the words of the LORD.
David was anointed for promotion1 Samuel 16:12 And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the LORD said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he.
King Solomon was anointed for promotion 1 Kings 1:34 And let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king over Israel: and blow ye with the trumpet, and say, God save king Solomon.

SUNDAY SERVICE: JANUARY 24, 2010
Genesis 37:5-11 And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more.
6 And he said unto them, Hear, I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed:
7 For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf.
8 And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? Or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams, and for his words.
9 And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me.
10 And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, what is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth?
11 And his brethren envied him; but his father observed the saying.
Last week we started by saying the following:
Dreams are far apart from reality but it is the starting point of reality. Dream is what you would want to bring out from your unconscious invisible into your conscious visible.
Dream by definition is tied to faith because faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Without faith you hardly can dream, because you don’t ever believe that your dream will ever come true. If you cannot faith, you cannot dream.
I did mention that dream precedes strategy, and strategy precedes goals. And strategy is a carefully devised plan of action to achieve a goal. You must work out a plan and execute it.
“Dreams come true if you survive the hard times!” you have to be dogged or rather determined about your dream. You have to be aware that along the way to actualizing your dream there may be problems which you must be prepared to surmount.
Articulate your dream and quantify your dream as Joseph did. Speak distinctly about your dream. Joseph was able to articulate his dream and quantify it.
Your dream is your face. The face of the, little Joseph, the little Jews boy sold to the Midianities appeared to limelight after many years of hardship. But this time the face was no longer the face of the little small Jews boy but the face of an Egyptian Prime Minister. Then his critics, his detractors came and bowed down before his dream. Very soon your critics will bow to your dream in Jesus Name.
This week will conclude by looking at the possible enemies of dreams which you must be greatly aware of.
SIX ENEMIES OF DREAM
- Sin. Still taking a clue from Joseph. Joseph understood the power of sin in killing and destroying dreams. This particular dream killer confronted Joseph along the way to actualizing his dream. Joseph knew the danger on the laps of Portipher’s wife. When the woman started to do all sorts in order to seduce him to sleep with her and steal, kill and destroy his dream Joseph knew nothing best other than to do the wise according to the provisions of the word of God. Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body, 1 Corinthians 6:18. Abstain from all appearance of evil, 1 Thessalonians 5:22. Sin eats up your dream, your aspiration like termites. You cannot continue to remain in sin and expect realize your dream. Joseph way to the Palace as the Prime Minister of the whole world would have crashed on the laps of Portipher’s.
- Doubt. If you don’t believe it you cannot get it. If you don’t believe you cannot work it out and if you cannot work it out, you cannot have it. What you have is what you believe in. If you believe in Jesus, the Power of God, you will have him. Doubt is the absence of believe. Doubt will always think something very unlikely. Anything you throw on the path of doubt will surely fail. Doubtful man cannot dream because to him every dream is unlikely. Isaiah 7:9b “… If ye will not believe, surely ye shall not be established.” And if you will not believe that you will make it; surely you shall not make it. If you will not believe that you will be where you dreamt to be surely you will never be there. If don’t believe you are in doubt. You doubt your capability, you doubt your ability, you doubt your God, you doubt your dream, and you doubt yourself not so sure about yourself. It is written For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Mark 11:23
- Fear. ¶Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10 For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee. Isaiah 41:13. Fear is serious killer of dreams. Fear is the evidence of doubt. When you are afraid you cannot venture and when cannot venture you dream is static and never achievable.
- Subjective critics. Beware of subjective critics. Those whose criticisms are biased. They criticize you based on their feeling of hate against your person and your dream. Their criticisms are not designed to help you achieve your dream. Rather it is based on their selfish interest to run you down and deprive you and take your place of honour and glory. Such persons you should tactfully withdraw from. These people you can easily identify them in your various places of work and business. They obviously hate you and envy you and they don’t hide it. The brothers of Joseph never hid their hatred for Joseph. Why? Because of his dream and for the fact that he had received favour more from Jacob their father more than any of them, so they hated him. They would rather have Joseph dead than for him to achieve his dream. Whatever it may cost to stop Joseph, they were ready to do even if it means committing a crime of murder. Such people will come with words that will weaken your spirit and soul and then cause you to drop your dream. Avoid such people.
- Procrastination. The enemy called procrastination is you. You are the enemy of your dream if you not are ready to do something about your dream now. Procrastination is devilish. Procrastination is the act of postponing doing something: it is the behaviour or a habit to postpone doing something. You dreamed it; you have analyzed the dream and found it realistic and workable. But to plan it out, pursue the plan and to work it is where you got stocked. You kept postponing until the year ended.
- Laziness or slothfulness. Closely related to procrastination is laziness or slothfulness. This enemy called laziness is you. It is not your enemy. When you are lazy to dress your bed when you are leaving the house in the morning you will meet it that way when you come back in the evening. When you are lazy to do something about your dream; your dream becomes a mere wishful thinking and fantasies. You will be on that dream for ever and nothing will come out of it. The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour. Proverbs 21:25 ¶The slothful man saith, There is a lion in the way; a lion is in the streets. Proverbs 26:13.
Failure is not the enemy of your dream. Defeat is not the enemy of your dream; they are on their own preparations to achieving your goals. What you may consider as a failure or defeat is in actual sense your victory. When the detractors and protractors of Jesus nailed Him on the cross to them Jesus the saviour had failed to save himself but that was the victory of Jesus. When the detractors and the protractors of Joseph sold him to the Midianites, they thought they had silenced the dreamer and closed the era. But that was the victory of Joseph.
Brethren your dream is your hope pursue it but hope is hopeless if it does not believe, working, patient, and persevering.

TAKE A CLUE FROM JOSEPH: DREAM
(GENESIS 37:5-11)
Dreams are far apart from reality but it is the starting point of reality. Joseph had a dream that was impossible in the realm of reality. Coming back home our General Overseer had a dream that was impossible in the realm of reality but that dream had long transcended into reality. Dreams are your conception of what you would like to be against what is in existence right now. It borders around the unconscious invisible and conscious visible. Dream is what you would want to bring out from your unconscious invisible into your conscious visible. According Anais Nin; “Our life is composed greatly from dreams, from the unconscious, and they must be brought into connection with action. They must be woven together.” So you dream it and you act on it. Though you may fail at the first instance but keep your dream alive. Keep working it out, that’s the only way you can connect the invisible with the visible.
Dream is something hoped for: something that somebody hopes, or longs for, usually something difficult to attain or far removed from present circumstances. Dream by definition is tied to faith because faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Without faith you hardly can dream, because you don’t ever believe that your dream will ever come true. Without faith it is impossible to please God and I dare to say that without a dream tied up to faith it is impossible to please God. If you cannot faith, you cannot dream.
It is important to note here that a dream precedes strategy, and strategy precedes goals. You must dream it first before you strategize how to make it real. However, strategy is a carefully devised plan of action to achieve a goal. In between a dream and a goal is strategy and plan. Your goal is your target area. It is the end product of your dream. Your goal is your dream come true. Your goal is the reality of your dream. Most importantly however in between your dream and your goal is the working out, which involves strategy, planning, and execution.
“Dreams come true if you survive the hard times!” you have to be dogged or rather determined about your dream. Take a clue from Joseph, he had a dream, and he shared his dream with his brothers, which was a very good action point. Oh they hated him as a result. He had another dream and he told his brothers again, never minding what the consequences could be, this time he had gone too far and they hated him the more. Without sharing those dreams the journey to the actualization would not start. Then they plotted to kill him, they cast him into the pit and then sold him a slave to the Midianites, that was the road to his destiny he must follow it. The Midianites sold him to Portipher at the Portiphers house he ran into trouble with the wife of Portipher, the next thing he found himself in the prison. And then to the King Palace then his dream came true. Martin Luther King Jnr had an excruciating hard time because of his dream. Nelson Mandela ended up in prison and spent twenty seven years in prison all because of his dream. Dreams are always contended by dream killers and for your dream to come true you must vehemently be ready to fight back against the enemies of your dream.
Articulate your dream and quantify your dream as Joseph did. Speak distinctly about your dream. Joseph was able to articulate his dream and quantify it. He said in verse 7 For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf. Again he said in verse 9 And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me. Here we could understand the body of the dream; he was able to articulate and gave a structure to his dream. His brothers and parents understood the dream and they knew where was going that was why they hated him. What a great dream that was Shalt thou indeed reign over us? They asked him. Once a dream is well articulated and structured it becomes an idea. A good articulated and structured idea is sellable. When Pharaoh had a dream he could not articulate and structure his dreams therefore he needed someone who could do that and then he hired Joseph. Joseph was able to articulate and structure the dream of Pharaoh and that became an idea that saved generations from severe famine.
Your dream is your face. It is what your face could behold in the invisible. It is what your face could behold in the land of impossible with a tag on it written boldly possible. Your dream is your face. How? You may ask in total disagreement. Now may I ask you one simple question is Martin Luther King a dreamer? When you see the face of Martin Luther King whose face did you see? Yes the face of a dreamer. When you see the face of Martin Luther King Jnr, what you will readily remember quickly is his dreams. He face was peculiar to his dream. The same applies to Nelson Mandela.
The face of a dreamer never dies. Martin Luther King Jnr, though he was dead but his face still shines and could be recognized easily because of his dream; his dream is still alive, so dream. Dream and dream big and your face will appear in good memories and shine forever. A man without a dream is a man without a face. Oh you may say no but I have a face, yes, you may have a face but without a dream. A face without a dream has no future, and a face without dream is faceless.
What is face? A face is the front of the head; a face is the identity of a person. Your face is what distinguishes you from others. Without a face, you have no name and you are nonexistence. You may have no leg or arm but you can still be identified by your face and that gives you a name. You can identify a man from his face but you hardly can identify a man from his back. What distinguishes between the faces of great achievers and non achievers is dream. What separated Joseph from the rest of his brothers was dream. Without a dream your future is dim and blinks and that is like a man without a face. Your face projects your future just as your dream projects your future.
Your face makes you attractive and your dream makes you attractive. Protipher’s wife was attracted to Joseph not necessary because he was handsome and good looking but more because he was a man of dream. Your dreams must be attractive and that is when you can get people to believe and buy your dreams. If your dreams are not attractive they may not survive the test of time.
Dreams are attached to every face. A face must have a dream, that mean that every person must have dream, but what happens is that some dreams die before they are realized. There is no one who has never dreamt before but is your dream alive or dead. Your dream is attached to your face if you want to see the face of a great man then look at his dream and you will see his face clearly.
The face of Michael Jackson was not his face, rather the face of his dream. His dream became his face and his face became his dream.
In conclusion, the question this morning is do you have a dream have tied up your dream to your faith? What have you envisaged to bring out from your unconscious invisible to your conscious visible? Can you articulate your dream and quantify your dream as Joseph did. Have you started working out your dreams? What are your strategy, plan, and goals? Don’t forget that “Dreams come true if you survive the hard times!” Your true face is the face of your dream and it never comes easy. Don’t accept what live had given you dream for a change and see to it manifestation.
Just continue in this remember that impossible is possible with God. Get God’s support and your dream shall come true.

IMPOSSIBLE ISPOSSIBLE
The author John Maxwell said: “Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live the world they’ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”
Matthew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. In other words impossible is the heart of unbelief.
Matthew 19:26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, with men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
Mark 10:27 And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.
Luke 1:37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.
Luke 18:27 And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.
Hebrews 6:18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
From all these scripture we can see from the word of God that all impossible is possible but then there are only two impossibilities that can never be possible and we find that in Hebrews 6:18 and Hebrews 11:6
v First, it is impossible for God to lie that means that all the words of God are true.
v Secondly impossible can never get possible without believe or faith.
Matthew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
Since Jesus our Lord and saviour said this by himself, and it impossible for him to lie, then hence forth “Believe and act as if it were impossible to fail.”
“No one ever gets far unless he accomplishes the impossible at least once a day.” Impossible people are bound to fail and the reason for their failures are not far fetched they have accepted the impossible and will never want to change it by just removing the first two letters. “Success is determined by those whom prove the impossible, possible.” “Impossibilities are merely things of which we have not learned, or which we do not wish to happen.”
Now when you think about impossible more than you think about possible your life is impossible. As a man thinketh in his heart so is he. No amount of prayers will be able to make it work, no amount of ointment will heal, and the reason is simple you mind tells you nothing else other than it is impossible. “Success is a state of mind. If you want success, start thinking of yourself as a success. Whatever you want to succeed in, whatever you want to accomplish first think it possible. If there is any year to think positive and think possible it is this year.
But one important thing you should know is that there is one who makes the impossible possible. Without him nothing is possible. And because of Him all things are possible. And with him there is nothing impossible with him. In fact the first defeat over impossibility was by Him. Luke 1:37 For with God nothing shall be impossible. It was practically impossible in for virgin to conceive and bring forth a child. But that became possible with God.
And because He is in your case every impossible will be possible. He is the God of the Supernatural; by his supernatural intervention impossibility is made possible. It is very important to get the assistance of the one who is superior to the natural. And once you have gotten him with you, then go ahead nothing can stop you anymore nothing canl hinder you any more. Romans 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? What have considered as impossible in your journey this year; you may have to have a rethink and reconsider it possible.
Impossible is possible with works, there is dignity in labor. “Without labor nothing prospers.” If you fold your hands hoping and waiting for impossible to be possible you may wait for ever. Faith without works is dead. James 2:18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. Slothfulness does not produce faith. If you are slothful at work your faith is dead. One of the major things that abort our blessings and wreck our testimonies is slothfulness to work. Proverbs 19:15 Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger. Ecclesiastes 10:18 By much slothfulness the building decayeth; and through idleness of the hands the house droppeth through. In the house of kings only the diligent are reckon with, Proverbs 22:29 Seest thou a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men. Fold your sleeves and go to work. According to Martin Luther King, Jr. “All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence.” Be the best at it, do it extraordinarily well.
The roads may be rough, the edges may be as sharp as a razor, the roads may be full of thorns, bumps, gallops and hold ups, but there is only one way to your destiny and that is the way follow it. There is only one way to your possible and going through the way will see you conquering the impossibile. There is only just one way to your success, but what seems to be impossible will be lined up along this way but your persistent, doggedness, resilient in faith will change the impossible to ispossible.
As you conquer your impossibilities may God be with you and see you through.
AMEN

WHERE ARE WE COMING FROM AND WHERE ARE WE HEADING TO?
Genesis 12:1 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
4 So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.
5 And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother’s son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.
6 ¶ And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land.
7 And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him.
8 And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Hai on the east: and there he builded an altar unto the LORD, and called upon the name of the LORD.
9 And Abram journeyed, going on still toward the south.
10 ¶ And there was a famine in the land: and Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn there; for the famine was grievous in the land.
Before you start or embark on a journey you must first have to ask yourself this very important question where I am and where I am going to. This is very important because if you do not know where you are before you start a journey there is tendency that you may not know where you are heading to. You must evaluate where you are right now and project where you intend to be as you embark on the journey of the year. We are already in the third day in the journey of 2010. When you have answered this question correctly then you are set to sail. Then you need to take certain things into consideration, take them along and put them into perfect use.
You need a road map. Your road map is like direction finder, it is like your compass. A sailor cannot sail without a compass, in fact it is practically impossible for a sailor to sail without a compass. Without the compass the sailor will never get to his destination and the ship will be lost in the ocean. Without an air path compass a pilot will not set a flight. A compass is a navigational instrument for determining direction. The compass greatly improves the safety and efficiency of travel. You need a compass for your life in 2010. You need a direction. For you to set your direction well you must know where you are coming from, your position now and then you must know where you intend to land. Apart from physical direction you also need a spiritual direction in verse 1 of Genesis 12 God said to Abraham Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: In other words God was the one holding the compass for the journey he commanded Abraham to embark on. Abraham knew nothing about where he was headed he could only tell of where was and his current position but where he was headed he never knew except that he believed God’s word. Here God was the pilot and the sailor. You need to give the Holy Spirit the opportunity this year to direct you. You see the truth of the matter is that you may know the direction but you may not know what lies ahead of you but with the help of the Holy Spirit; holding your compass your journey will be smooth and safe and you will land safely with joy, peace, and lots of abundance. Whether physical or spiritual must align.
Set your time; time enhances the effectiveness and efficiency of every task or journey. Without time the journey will last for ever without success or accomplishment. According to a Scottish Proverb “What may be done at any time will be done at no time.” Now “For every minute spent in organizing, an hour is earned.” “Time is free, but it’s priceless. You can’t own it, but you can use it. You can’t keep it, but you can spend it. Once you’ve lost it you can never get it back.” Don’t while away your time this year doing nothing. Time is precious to waste. According to Arnold Bennett “You wake up in the morning and lo! Your purse is magically filled with twenty-four hours of the unmanufactured tissue of the universe of your life. It is yours. It is the most precious of your possessions. No one can take it from you. It is unstealable. And no one receives either more or less than you receive.”
Prepare for the journey, according to Henry Hartman “Success always comes when preparation meets opportunity” Prepare well for the journey, take all the necessary things you need for the journey and take extra, learn from the five wise virgin. Arrange your clothes properly, take some food along, take some water, and put some money in your pocket, enough money that will take you through the journey. Luck is opportunity that meets preparation, “Luck is a crossroad where preparation and opportunity meet”. If you are not prepared emotionally physically and spiritually you may be frustrated along the way and the result will be jettisoned visions, dreams, and hope. Don Williams Jnr, said that “Despair is most often the offspring of ill-preparedness”
By preparing you are planning out your journey and by first planning out your journey, you are going to have a good smooth journey. Planning saves you money. Plans must always precede programme of actions. Plan each day, plan each week, plan each month, live a well-planned, thought life. Your success in 2010 largely depends on plans. You must have a plan for your life and for your family. As you prepare don’t sit back the entire year preparing; act on your plans. Set the motion going. “Over-preparation is the foe of inspiration”. Put your plans into action.
Have a positive attitude. Attitude is important and for you to succeed your attitude must be positive. This is because “Attitude is the way you mentally look at the world around you. It is how you view your environment and your future. It is the focus you develop toward life itself.” It is dangerous, frustrating and killing to have a negative attitude about life. “It is our attitude at the beginning of a difficult undertaking which, more than anything else, will determine its successful outcome.” Take it or live it you have failed already if your attitude from onset is negative. Abraham life long had good positive attitude. When God called him he had a positive attitude, when he was waiting for a son from Sarah through God he had a positive attitude. When God asked him to go and sacrifice his only son at old age he had a positive attitude. Throughout he travails he had a positive attitude. A positive attitude in time of troubles and challenges is a demonstration of your trust and faith on God and that will keep your heart at peace. You need a positive attitude to navigate peacefully through the rough edges of life.
In this journey however do not despair, keep your hope high don’t give up. “In all things it is better to hope than to despair” The journey may have some bumps and pot holes but keep your hope alive. The bible did not promise us a smooth sail all the way, but nevertheless we will get there. Isaiah 43:2 When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. The hold ups, the bumps, the pot holes, the fire, the waters will not kill you they are the way to you destination you must pass through them to get to where you are going to, there is no short cut. If you have ever seen a champion before go and ask him what it takes to be a champion. Abraham when he set out, along the way there was a great famine that changed the course of his journey, but that never deterred him, he kept the hope alive and believed God.
Genesis 26:15-22 For all the wells which his father’s servants had digged in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines had stopped them, and filled them with earth.
16 And Abimelech said unto Isaac, Go from us; for thou art much mightier than we.
17 And Isaac departed thence, and pitched his tent in the valley of Gerar, and dwelt there.
18 And Isaac digged again the wells of water, which they had digged in the days of Abraham his father; for the Philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham: and he called their names after the names by which his father had called them.
19 And Isaac’s servants digged in the valley, and found there a well of springing water.
20 And the herdmen of Gerar did strive with Isaac’s herdmen, saying, The water is ours: and he called the name of the well Esek; because they strove with him.
21 And they digged another well, and strove for that also: and he called the name of it Sitnah.
22 And he removed from thence, and digged another well; and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said, For now the LORD hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.
Abraham never gave up in famine he continued with the journey. Isaac his son took after him and never gave up. He continued earnestly not giving up inspite of oppositions from the enemies until eventually he succeeded in getting a desired well. Don’t give up.
Carry people along don’t go alone; add value to someone else life. Render help to as many as you come across on this journey. Help people to get to their destination. You cannot stand alone you cannot do it alone. When you row another person across the river you get there yourself. Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared. In other words helping people will not decrease your worth rather it will add more value to your worth. Abraham did not go alone he took Lot along. Abraham made Lot what Lot became. Without Abraham we wouldn’t have known about Lot. Abraham helped Lot to get to his destination even though it was a great inconvenience. Quite a lot of us don’t want any body to inconvenience us in any way. Think about Abraham think about Lot. Who have you lighted his candle think about it. I wonder why his name was Lot; Lot went through a lot, saw a lot but Abraham took care of his lots.
Don’t go without God. In your preparation in setting your time, In setting your time don’t forget that you need God wholeheartedly to succeed in this journey. Proverbs 3: 5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
7 ¶Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.
9 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:
10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
MAY GOD SEE YOU THROUGH THIS JOURNEY.
